The selected cadets from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) of MASIDTALAK Class of 2023 of the Philippine National Police Academy experienced the gist of being an officer. Before receiving the taste of Anahaw on their shoulders, Cadet Attachment Program must be part of it. This allows them to experience the essence of being a cadet and a future public officer. In this activity, they roved the different office sections of the Baguio City Police Office. They conducted interviews with numerous police officers about the way they operate and perform their duties in making Baguio a better and safer place.
The cadets are the hope of the law enforcement field, its significance is that this type of activity enables the cadets to seek advice and ask questions from well-experienced officers in the field that will serve as their foundation for performing their future duties of being an officer. In the world of policing and law enforcement, nothing beats experience.
Since Baguio City Police Office is one of the best-performing regional offices around the country, it achieved numerous achievements from last year’s recognition. So, it is the best opportunity for the cadets to apply and adapt the knowledge gained from the said activity. When the time has come and they finally serve as public officers, they will be fully equipped with bags of knowledge and experience. When we are new to something and it makes us confused, nothing is wrong with asking questions and seeking the best bits of advice from senior officers in order to adjust to a certain environment and in the new field.
The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) molds the cadets through conducting these activities. This gives the cadets an idea of what will be their future life and how law enforcement works in the outside world. In this case, being a cadet and a law enforcer have huge significant differences but a lot of similarities in the performance of their job. Furthermore, it serves as a great practice for improving the service of the Philippine National Police and the preparation of cadets, the future public leaders.
The collection of information performed by the cadets around different stations in Baguio helped in creating and developing various programs for the betterment of the community. Visiting various police stations boosts community relations and encourages the people in the community to observe the best practices done by the cadets of the PNPA. Various police stations in Baguio City are marked as part of the cadet’s history in being a police cadet. There is no greater satisfaction and achievement than seeing other people succeed in life just like how the Baguio police stations open the gate for the cadets’ preparation of being an officer of the Philippine National Police. The course offered by the PNPA, Bachelor of Science in Public Safety, lets the cadets acquire knowledge and skills essential to ensuring public safety. In a matter of time, these cadets will be the ones managing their own office together with its corresponding personnel and they must be educated and aware of how to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.
Ultimately, the cadets are the hope of the Philippine National Police. The benefits of the conduction of the said activity will assure the effectiveness of their job in serving the public. It can utilize and assess what can make the organization better and what it can improve. As future officers, it helps to ensure that they are carrying out their duties appropriately and maintaining the station's cycle. The goal of the activity is to showcase and enhance the capabilities of the cadets of the PNPA.
